my fortress...

For those of you who read my other blog, you know I am having problems with my eldest again. I spent many hours worrying about what I should do and how I should handle it last night. You also may remember that a friend gave me a box with bible verses in to read at different times in my life. I came across Ps. 31 verses 1-6
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.

2 Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.

3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.

4 Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.

5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

6 I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.

I read that over a few times and thought about it then laid the bible down and fell fast alsleep. I have done all I can do and it is in God's hands now. I feel no guilt about thinking that way. I have not given up on her. I will continue to pray for her but I cannot be dragged down by her. I will not allow it. Sometimes you do all you can do and just have to say enough is enough.

  1. Oh Garnet, I am so sorry to hear you are having a few problems with your eldest...it is so hard when we love them so much and only want what is best for them......when you stand up for yourself, respect yourself then you will find she will not be able to push your buttons as she does now....when she begins to respect you she will not treat you this way. I will keep you and your family in my prayers sweetie, be gentle with yourself, trust God and keep on doing the best you can always with respect and consistently.....:-) Hugs

  2. Thanks, Bernie. I have started doing that. I tried to be kind but firm with her. My husband ssaid I should just tell her if she is not going to talk to me with respect then I am going to hang and then hang up if she continues on the same path.

  5. I'm so sorry Garnetrose that you are having to go through this painful time. Our children pull at our heartstrings sometimes. I'm praying that the Lord will encourage you and lift you up, and that you will have a peace that can only come from Him.

  7. So sorry to read this. I've been in that situation with my children more times than I care to remember. Very trying, heartbreaking times in my life. But, like you, I did all I felt I could, the situations were beyond me, I wasn't equipped to handle them in the right way, and then the only thing left is to place it all in God's Hands. And really, such a feeling of relief came over me after that. I still was very anxious at times, but then the peace would return.

"I am the Lord your God, Who holds your right hand, and I tell you, 'Don't be afraid. I will help you.' " ~ Isaiah 41:13

"If the Lord be with us, we have no cause of fear. His Eye is upon us, His Arm over us, HIs Ear open to our prayer, His Grace sufficient, His Promise unchangeable." ~ John Newton

I will be praying for your intentions,
    Eileen
